
Union Minister highlights India’s investment potential and outlines key enablers for Viksit Bharat 2047.
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal inaugurated the ‘Bharat Calling Conference 2025’ organized by the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Mumbai. The conference, themed ‘Path to Viksit Bharat 2047: Pioneering Prosperity for All’, focuses on India’s economic potential and investment opportunities across diverse sectors.
Delivering the keynote address, Shri Goyal emphasized that India, with a population of 1.4 billion and a rapidly growing aspirational youth, is emerging as a global investment destination. He credited Make in India, Digital India, Startup India, Swacch Bharat, and Atmanirbhar Bharat for fostering resilience and self-sufficiency, paving the way for a developed India by 2047.

Shri Goyal outlined five key enablers for Viksit Bharat@2047: Quality Management and Handholding of Small Businesses, Sustainability, Inclusive Growth, Skill Development, and Competitiveness & Efficiency. He stressed that businesses must adopt modern quality standards, follow good manufacturing practices, and support small enterprises in quality control. With around 700 quality control orders in place, he urged the industry to champion quality revolution efforts.
Highlighting sustainability, Shri Goyal stated that India’s traditional ethos align with sustainability goals, making energy efficiency a priority for businesses. He also emphasized inclusive growth, calling for businesses to support social development through CSR initiatives and infrastructure investments.
Focusing on skill development, he announced the establishment of two new skill centers in North Mumbai, following the success of the first state-of-the-art skill center in Kandivali, Mumbai. He urged industries to enhance competitiveness and innovation, stating that businesses must thrive on their strengths rather than rely on government subsidies and incentives.
The event was attended by Ms. Rosslyn Bates, Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, Queensland, Australia, and IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Shri Sanjaya Mariwala, along with industry leaders and policymakers.
